2013

Hello dear readers! This time I´m going to talk about 2013, my decisions and situations lived on this crazy year. Some theory says that all is relative, and time is not the exception, sometimes is really fast or really slow. For me this year goes fast, more than I expected. I´m still thinking that is May but no, is December and I can´t explain how.

2013, year full of experiences I think. In January 2^nd the love of my live, my little mouse named Roquefort leave this word, he gets ill the first day of the year but any veterinary (or shop) opened that day. The next day I went to the veterinary with him but it was impossible to save him. I´m still remember that sad day. I´m remember him almost every day and I can´t have any other pet.

Roquefort is the reason why I made my decision, before 2014, I get a mouse tattoo. Roquefort was a fighter, he was rescued from a laboratory, they made experiments with him but he never have afraid with me or any human. He was my partner too, my love, my little boy, my company, my everything.

This year I made another important decision. I will change my name, now I have the contact with a lower and my case will starts soon. I´m very excited because since I have 16 years old I want to change the order of my last names.

Finally, this year is very important to me because I´m reconnected with my dear friends. I met them in 2009 and we lose the contact when I enter in the university but now everything is like in the past.      

I hope that 2014 bring us only good moments. Bye bye!!! 

girl power?

Hello readers! Today I would talk you about a video called “Social media and the end of gender” In this video Johanna Blakley talks about the “old school” media, the “new school” social media, the gender and the stigmatization.

Firstly she starts talking about the stereotyped and disoriented gender. Then she talks about “old school media” (like TV, radio and videogames), that help with this stereotyped construction.

They understand the world with categories, so, they classified people with a demographic way (for example by age or gender) and with this method they know what you like and what not. With your age they can know the music, books or movies that you like. if you think like that a teenager can`t like old music because she`s not on her music category.

It that sounds strange? No, a lot of people can love things out of they own category and is perfectly normal.  

The “new school social media” logic classified people by what they like; this is more important that your age or your gender.  

Some studies say that woman is on the top of the social media revolution but, is possible that in the future the social media can be a feminist thing? Blakley says no but that scene can make a revolutionary thing, get over with the gender –destined things (like movies or series).

Nowadays, if you want to understand the people, you can get more information asking what they like that asking they age.  

In my opinion I think that the “new school” media thinking is very interesting because we can get the option to choose what we like, instead of determined stereotipes  

GREEN!!!! :D

Some people think that be “green” (an ecologic person) is only for hippie people. Now the cities grow up more and more, just like the pollution on the planet  

The pollution is a serious problem in our lives because these causes illness and kill animals and plants. But if we do little things we can change the world (is not necessary to be hippie to do that). There are some examples of little and big “green” things:  

With seven plastic bottles, newspaper, glue and patient, you can make a little chair or a coffee table. With this idea you can recycle and get beautiful furniture with a little amount of money.

The old woman in the picture is Maria Ponce, she has 78 years old. She built with her hands a colorful house with plastic bottles.

Using a beer or a soda can you can make a cookie shaper, with every shape that you want, is useful for different events and you can help the planet too.

You can get an original and useful rotating table; you can keep all your books and is very decorative. That creation was made with a construction trash, rocks and wheels.     

Using the top of the plastic bottles and an ordinary bag you can made a hermetic bag. With that simple thing you can save a lot of money.

See? There are a lot of different ideas to using things than normally you throw into the trash can. Be green, be happy.       

Turn off your cell phone

Actually technology is everywhere and now is a very important part of our lives. When I walk on the street I can see a lot of people using mobile phones, tablets, photo cameras, notebooks and more! But I think that actually the most important thing in this “revolution” is the mobile phones.   

Now with a cell phone you can watch your mail, play, watch videos, listen music, send instant messages AND call. I mean, that little thing can make the same (and more) that a big computer but you can put it in your pocket.

But remember that each thing have a bad side. I think that the excessive use of cell phone can create an addiction. In that case you are controlled by the technology, now is not a tool, is a necessary thing.

The dependence of mobile phone can break the social relations. Unfortunately see a group of persons together but each one looking their own phone is a reality more and more common.

Personally I have my own “Android” cell phone with mobile internet but I use to play some videogames, send instant messages with watsapp and call. I play the games (pokemon specifically) when I´m alone; I use whatsapp only in special cases and I don´t talk a lot because my call minutes are limited.

Just like me I know a lot of people that don´t need a cell phone on the hands all the time. I hope that this situation never change because is too boring stay with friends and don´t talk them because they are too busy with his phones. I prefer go out without all this technology and be free for a while.

wine of happiness

Hello reader! Today I would like to show you a very “funny” new.  That new comes from a Chilean newspaper called “La Tercera”.

To drink a glass of wine everyday reduces the probabilities to get depression. With this weird sentence that new starts.

The “BMC Medicine” magazine reports a PREDIMED study. The result says that drink wine with moderation will be associated with depression. The alcohol has protectors effects on depression just like with heart disease.

Drink alcohol actually is a popular and massive behavior. In that context other studies say that the excessive consume of this drink it was related with health problems and mental problems like depression. But there are not very studies about the exclusive relation between mental disorders and consume of alcohol.

That new study analyze the relation of moderated consume of alcohol (using wine like the principal alcoholic drink) and depression. With annual visits, medical exams, questionnaires and interviews hey follow (for 7 years) around 5500 drinkers between 55 and 80 years old and study his consume of alcohol, mental health and lifestyle. The results finally say that the person who drink alcohol with moderation have less possibilities to get depression.  

In my personal opinion I think that this study is very stupid.  The variables “drink wine” and “to develop” depression doesn’t have any significant correlation to validate their hypothesis. I think the result of this study was hilarious.

happiness :D

Hello reader! This time I´m going to talk about a video, “The surprising science of happiness”. In this video Dan Gilbert talks about happiness studies and his conclusions.

Starts talking about the brain and his “history”. How the brain become more complex and unique if you make a compare with the brain of other species. Mention the apparition of the pre-frontal cortex. All this changes on the human brain helps to the creation of synthetic happiness.  

Synthetic happiness is a construction created in our minds because natural happiness is too hard to get in a limited-freedom context. Dan Gilbert says that the synthetic happiness is equally important that the natural happiness. The big difference between these two concepts is the freedom. More freedom is more natural happiness and less synthetic happiness and less freedom is more synthetic happiness and less natural happiness.

I think that the concept “happiness” is very important to each person. A lot of people spends all his life searching that happiness and sometimes they really don´t know about the meaning of this word. Is important don´t forget that the actual society can take away our freedom (is the way to live with others without problems).

With these ideas you can think that the synthetic happiness is good sometimes but the natural happiness is necessary because that shows our real freedom.

Welcome back reader! This time I`m going to talk about guilty pleasures. UF! Some people can think that a “guilty pleasure” is a bad thing but I don´t think that. I think that a guilty pleasure is a way to escape, is YOUR place, you can feel comfortable and safe. The problem is when the person abused that way because a pleasure can be an addiction.

 Personally I have two guilty pleasures and I proud of them:

The first pleasure is new. My mom give me a new mobile phone and a friend installed me an awesome game “pokemon ruby”. I can play it wherever I go. I think that’s the reason why I can´t stop playing.

The second pleasure is watch series and anime (Japanese animations). Internet is a great way to get that series and keep your money safe (series and movies are too expensive in this days). I can watch hours and hours, day and night, I think that is better during the night. The problem is the next morning because I look like a zombie.

Finally I need to say that my two pleasures takes a lot (A LOT!) of time, but they don´t makes serious problems in my life, so I want to keep them with me.                 

places and dreams

Hello dear reader! Now I´m going to talk about places and travel. Just like a lot of people, I love travel but I can´t have the possibilities to do it frequently (especially for money reasons). I visited a lot of Chilean places for example La Serena, Chiloe, Coyaique and Puerto Varas. Also I visited two Argentina´s places, Chubut and Bariloche. But my travelling dream is going to Isla de Pascua (Easter island in other words). That magical place is my dream come true…. I hear a lot of histories of that beautiful piece of haven. The stories said that the island can clean the people soul and can make you feel light and peaceful. Other reason because I want to go there is his singular culture and the beautiful people. I hear in the news that they health system is very bad, that event makes me think “I want to go to the island and work there helping people”. Now I don´t know how, maybe in schools or like a clinical psychologist, perhaps with old people or in the lower area… anyway the plan is still there, incomplete but there.

Hello reader! Today I´m going to talk about dreams….

The word “dream” has two different meanings. One of them is the images that you see while you are asleep; the second meaning is an idea or a very far wish (for example dream with a world in peace).

In psychology, specifically in psychoanalysis, the interpretation of the dreams are very important because dreams can show things like memories or emotions that the dreamer repress for different reasons (that can be conscious or unconscious).

I believe in the power of dreams. A person can´t use all of his brain so is impossible say with security that the brain can´t do something mystic when we are sleeping. For some persons maybe this is a stupid thing. But I have experiences that make me question for the real meaning of dreams.

Anyway, the dreams are an important thing for everybody. In the world of painting exist the “surrealism” is an art current (my favorite) that transform the dreams in piece of art. My favorite artist in this current is the wild Salvador Dali. Now I let you some images of his paintings.   

Personality

Wellcome again dear reader! This time I am going to talk about subjects.

On this career I study many subjects, but one of my favorites is “Psychology of personality”. I like this subject because I learned a lot of interesting theories of psychoanalysis and humanist theories too.

When I was at the school I studied this topics and I thing that consider the unconscious like a important part of the human mind is a revolutionary idea (in case of psychoanalisis), because on this time the people thought that the only way to understand the human actions is by the body, not the mind. So, Sigmund Freud (father of psychoanalisis) changed this conception with his theories.

Also I studied the humanist theories. They gave more relevance to the patient. Before these news ideas, the patient is only the guy with a mental ill and the therapist is who does all the work to back him to a “normal” state. But they gave to the patient an active role, so now he work with the therapist hand by hand.    

On “Psychology of personality” I can study properly all of this themes and more, I like it a lot               

My little boy

This is my favorite photograph. Everyone can see a common mouse with red eyes but I see my little angel. He is Roquefort, my little pet, my little fighter, my partner.

My mother took this photo on 2011 in an ordinary day when he was in my hands. This photograph is my profile photo on facebook (an important thing for me) all my friends can see it on this web site.

Roquefort lived in a laboratory, I don´t know anything about the experiments makes on this place. The pro-animals people rescued 9 mice. I saw Roquefort on internet and I adopted him.

I put him this name, is a kind of cheese, I think it was very funny that a mouse have a cheese name. He lives with me 2 happy years. He died on January and I miss him so much.

This photo can make me remember him but not the time when he was sick. I can remember when he ran all over my house. When he was happy and healthy. 

I have a lot of photographs about Roquefort but this is definitely my favorite.    

Game over

Welcome again reader! On this post I will talk about videogames oh yeah! I like videogames because I play it since I was a little child. I don´t have brothers or sisters so the games can make me have a lot of fun for my own.

I don´t have a favorite genre of games, but I don`t like the games of war and football. I like follow a story and be part of it with my character. One epic game that I love is “mortal kombat”

Is an old game (1992) You select a character and fight with the opponent. Is too boldly for little childs but is addictive.

“The sims” is totally different, this game is a simulator. You create a character and live his life, you controlled all the actions like eat, or read a book etc. You can also get a relationship and have a family.

“Mario kart” is another game that I like. This is a race game. You can select a character of the Mario`s saga and competed on a race with cars on different places.

Well, I play this games (and others) very frequently. The problem is that the videogames can make that one hour can feel like one second.  

Piece of technology

Hi reader! Now is time to talk about technology. Personally I not an expert but I have to admit that my Ipad is a wonderful thing and I love it.

The Ipad is a line of tablets created by Apple. Is a kind of computer with touch system (don’t need buttons to use it, only your fingers on the screen). This artifact can connect to internet and do a lot of things; it all depends on the applications installed.

My mother give me my own Ipad for Christmas a couple of years ago. Now I draw on it, send mails, watch videos, listen to music, search information, read Ibooks (virtual books) and play. I play a lot of games on this tablet; my favorite is “plants v/s zombies”.

I use my Ipad every day, because is small and portable. I can live without a notbook or a regular computer because this tablet can do the things that I want on this kind of artifacts. Is my little baby and I can’t live without my Ipad 

Draco, I watch you every night

Hello again reader! Now it  is time to talk about movies. I really love to go to the cinema and spend hours and hours watching movies (on the TV too!) because they take you to another reality for a while and I can feel different emotions. Movies are a kind of magic.
I like any types of movies. I love animated movies like "Nightmare before Christmas", marvel´s movies like "The avengers", movies about other centuries like "Amadeus", horror movies like "Saw". But now I want to talk about a very special movie for me: Dragon heart.

         
Dragon heart was made as 1996 (when I was 3 years old) directed by Rob Cohen, it was nominated for the academy awards for best visual effects, also this movie was nominated to the Oscars for visual effects.

This movie is a beautiful story about the last dragon named Draco,  and about  Bowen (actor: Dennis Quaid) who is a dragon hunter. The destiny wanted to two enemies to  make a nice friendship. Bowen shows his real profession, he is a knight, he was served to the crown but the king turns into a bad and cruel person so, now it  is  Bowen and Draco´s job to defeat him. Also Draco has a dream, when he dies, he wants to transform into a constellation. This is the greatest honor for any dragon because this is the way to show that his life was important.
After the fight with the king, Draco gives his life for the victory and finally his dream comes true. All his friends and Bowen can see him in the sky every night.

I like this movie because when I was five years old I saw it all the time. It is strange that a kid doesn´t get bored with that type of movie but I fell in love with Draco and his history. That love still exists and every time that this movie is transmitted on the TV it is like the first time.

              

Daddy Freud!!!

Hello reader! Let me tell you that I´m a Psychology student. Six years ago I made that decision and I say thanks for this to one man... Sigmund Freud 

He was born in Austria and is considered the father of psychoanalysis. I don´t know much about his biography but I know Freud was one of the most recognized thinkers of the twentieth century. 

I don´t consider myself a psychoanalysis  fanatic but I admire Freud because he helped me, he showed me that psychology is a good and interesting career. When I was in the school, I didn´t have any idea about my future an then in philosophy the teacher explained to  us about Freud and his work. The idea that the human behavior can be explained with his theories of unconscious, something that we can´t control,  was amazing! after that I wanted to learn more about this and finally I fell in love with that world. 

That´s why I admire Freud, because alive or dead... does´t matter, he´s still touching people, like me      

Favourite music

Hello again dear reader, this time I´m going to talk about music.
Well, I listen music every day at least one hour so, is a very important part of my life. My style of music is very diverse, I like jazz, clasic, pop, ska and more, but in this occasion I´m going to talk about one of my favourite musical groups: Queen

Queen is a british rock band, it was created in the 70´s and they be a part of the history of music. My uncle says that the voice of Freddie Mercury (the volcalist) is so special that you need hear a song for the first time and notice that Mercury is the singer.

In another post I say that one of my hobbies is paint, well... I not paint in silence, Queen is my partner, that music bring me peace and concentracion, all this with a little bit of craziness.

I don´t have a favourite song of Queen (I love all of them) but in my mind appears one melody, "somebody to love", I don´t know, is a very good song and sometimes I find myself singing it.
